Join us at the 2018 Area Meetings! Information that will be shared include National/Regional updates, 79th Regional Conference registration and hotel information, breakout workshops, etc. Registration and breakfast starts at 7:30 AM with the meeting following at 8:30 AM.


Workshop Descriptions:

TORCH Administrators Training--Level II:

4 Hours

Recommended audience: Level II Certification is required for all Anti-Basilei, Basilei and members teaching any section of TORCH.

Description: This training will provide a deep dive into the execution of TORCH. The training is designed to enhance individual members' skills in effectively and efficiently maneuvering through the TORCH process for their chapter.

QPR--Question-Persuade-Refer, Ask a Question, Save a Life:

1 hour

Recommended Audience: Appropriate for All: however especially recommended for Chapter Basilei, Anti-Basilei, Rhoer Advisors, Philo Advisors.

Description: Training will provide suicide prevention awareness by providing persons with information on detecting persons who may be suffering and/or struggling with suicidal thoughts by teaching persons how to ask the questions, persuade/encourage a healthier choice and refer to appropriate professional resources. As a part of Project Reassurance H3: This workshop addresses a critical crisis and empowers members to be proactive to not only be our Sisters' Keeper but keepers of our community. Suicide was declared a national problem over 2 decades ago and continues to have alarming statistics.

Social Media Training:

1 hour

Recommended Sorors: All

Description: IG, FB, Twitter, Snapchat – Social media communication is an important part of a Chapter’s communication plan and individual members use social media as a means of representing themselves and staying connected. But what are the rules regarding Sigma social media engagement? Come participate in this hands-on workshop where we will explore ways to protect yourself and our sisterhood in this digital age.

Undergraduate I.M.P.A.C.T (Image, Marketing, Programming, Academics, Chapter Operations, Teambuilding):

Undergraduates Only:

1 hour

Description: This interactive workshop will provide undergraduate sorors with specific strategies on how to make an I.M.P.A.C.T on their campus through national and regional programming, recruitment and member development. Through discussion, practical steps, and feedback from other undergraduates and select advisors, the workshop will help sorors learn how to elevate their programs and membership to the next level of excellence

Advisor Round Table:

1 hour

Description: Advisors will collaboratively work together to develop strategies to tackle the top three issues facing undergraduate advisors

Philo Chapter Development:

1 hour

Description: This workshop will introduce graduate chapters to the step in developing and chartering a Philo Chapter and how to maintain a healthy chapter.

Financial Training:

1 hour

Description: Do you have questions on how to control your chapter’s finances? This informative workshop will deal with developing a financial policy, using vouchers, audits, maintaining checks and balances and many other financial matters. The goal of this workshop is to help chapters begin, improve and maintain healthy finances.

Protocol Training:

1 hour

Description: The objective of the protocol workshop is to review the protocol practices, principles and procedures of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. topics will include: Appropriate Titles and introductions, Attire, and Social Protocol.

Parliamentary Training:

1 hour

Description: A professional and collegiate organization needs members who are versed in the meeting management processes that are required for running effective conventions, conferences, and meetings. The National Association of Parliamentarians(NAP) and Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised(RONR) offers our sisterhood the learning environment and tools needed for effective meeting management. Members will demonstrate leadership and knowledge of Basic Parliamentary Procedure in conducting an orderly and efficient meeting during a deliberative assembly.
